Promoting Diversity in Economics

Economics is late to the party: we are just now starting to grapple with the gender and race disparities in who chooses to major in economics. There are many contributing factors, including advising, pedagogy, course content, and how we communicate what economics truly is.

In this online colloquium we will discuss a handful of possible interventions. In addition to sharing her insights & successful strategies, guest economist Dr. Martha Olney will solicit feedback from you, in her role as a member of the American Economic Association’s Task Force for Outreach to High School and Undergraduate Students in Economics.

Hosted by the UA Office of Economic Education, with funding from the Thomas R. Brown Foundation. This program is free of charge.
